The Ariste Bolon School consists of a kindergarten and a primary school designed as wooden-frame cabins on two levels (G+1), set within a green and cool landscaped island.
Our team is responsible for permit validation and construction supervision (DET) since the completion of the station design in 2019.
The use of timber in the structural works has been maximized while accounting for the technical and functional constraints of the various buildings and their uses. The project features two main structural systems, both based on a common principle of a sequence of three-hinged portal frames, each self-stable in its plane.
The two-storey buildings (classrooms and administrative block) consist of a concrete base at ground level and a timber frame supporting the timber façade panels and roof structures. The buildings are connected by an elevated walkway with a composite timber floor system.
The dining halls and the resource centre are single-storey, fully timber buildings. An external bracing system ensures triangulation at the posts of the portal frames, creating a roof overhang that protects façade elements from weather exposure.
